How much does hot tub removal cost?

Short answer

Hot tub removal is quoted per job because the tub almost always has to be cut apart on site. Size, whether it's still full of water, deck or patio access, and how far the pieces have to be carried to the truck are what set the price.

What the job involves

A hot tub is a fiberglass shell, a cabinet, insulating foam, plumbing, and a heater, and it's usually sitting on a deck or pad in a fenced back yard. Crews drain it if needed, disconnect it at the existing shutoff, cut the shell into manageable sections, and carry everything out — cover, steps, and surround included.

  • Tub size and number of seats
  • Whether it's drained already (draining takes time on the clock)
  • Access — fence gates, deck height, stairs, distance to the truck
  • Whether the surrounding deck or pad is also coming out

Electrical disconnect

The tub should be shut off at the breaker before we arrive. We disconnect at the existing whip; permanent electrical work — removing the sub-panel or capping the circuit at the box — should be done by a licensed electrician.

Protecting your yard

We lay protection on decks and use plywood on soft lawns so a heavy shell section doesn't leave ruts. Photos of the tub and the path out get you an accurate price.
